How Payment Information Works

Payment happens outside the platform. Here is the flow:

  1. Seller accepts the trade and provides their payment details.
  2. The details depend on the payment method:
  • Bank Transfer — Bank name, account number, account holder name
  • Mobile Money — Phone number, account holder name
  • Digital Wallet — Email or username
  • Cash — Meeting location, contact information
  1. The buyer views these details on the trade detail page under "Seller Payment Details".
  2. The buyer sends payment using those details outside the platform (via their bank app, mobile money, etc.).
  3. The buyer uploads proof of payment on the platform.

Note: For Sogebank and Unibank, the bank name is automatically pre-filled since the payment method already identifies the bank.

Uploading Payment Proof

After you send payment, you must upload proof so the seller can verify it.

Option 1 — Upload an Image

  1. On the trade detail page, click Mark Payment as Sent.
  2. Select the Upload Image tab (default).
  3. Click Choose File and select your receipt screenshot or photo.
  4. Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (max 10MB).
  5. The image is automatically optimized and uploaded.
  6. You will see a preview of the uploaded image.
  7. Optionally add notes.
  8. Click Submit Payment Proof.

Option 2 — Enter a URL

  1. Click Mark Payment as Sent.
  2. Select the Enter URL tab.
  3. Paste a link to your receipt image or enter a transaction reference ID.
  4. Optionally add notes.
  5. Click Submit Payment Proof.

Viewing Payment Proof

On the trade detail page, under Payment Information:

  • If the proof is an image, it appears as a clickable thumbnail.
  • Click the image to view it full size in a new tab.
  • Click View full size link below the image.
  • If the proof is a text reference, it appears in a code block.
  • If no proof has been submitted yet, a message says "Payment proof hasn't been submitted yet".

Understanding Payment Deadlines

Timer

Who It Affects

What Happens If Expired

Payment Timer

Buyer must send payment

Trade may be auto-cancelled. Buyer may receive a fee + temporary ban.

Release Timer

Seller must confirm payment

Buyer can escalate or appeal.

  • Timers start automatically when the trade reaches the relevant state.
  • The other party can extend the timer by 15 minutes if needed.
  • Expired timers turn red. Appeals should be used instead of cancellation after expiry.
